Abstract: In the talk I will elucidate some details about interaction of free carriers with magnetic material in presence of a nonmagnetic barrier. We will see how the photoluminescence of a semimagnetic heterostructure at 1.2K changes in magnetic fields up to 6T. The barrier thickness dependence of magnetic interaction will be used to tackle the effects caused by the wave function overlap between the carriers and magnetic ions. A role of the strain in formation of Mn complexes which lead to states in the band gap on spin relaxation of charge carriers will be discussed in the framework of spintronics applications.
